You are the President of FCS, one of our terrific community partners. Please explain a little about FCS' work in South Atlanta?

FCS has 40 years of experience preserving affordability in transforming communities of need. Our approach is holistic, incorporating strategic neighboring, mixed-income housing, and economic development. Legacy residents are able to remain in their homes and enjoy reduced crime, improved amenities, and increasing opportunities. We firmly believe, and research confirms, that mixed-income communities are the answer to creating cities where everyone can flourish.
Can you explain how Start:ME fits into FCS's vision for South Atlanta?
"Secondly, Start:ME honors the assets that community members bring to the table."
Start:ME fits into the mission of FCS in two ways. Firstly, it focuses on the creation of small business. These businesses build local economies by providing goods, services, and jobs. Every neighborhood needs these, but our underresourced neighborhoods have a severe lack of them. Start:ME helps FCS prime the neighborhood pump to build a flourishing economy. Secondly, Start:ME honors the assets that community members bring to the table. The program requires and expects great things from the entrepreneurs and invites them into relationships that provide expertise and resources at every level of their business. Whether creating an owner operated small business or a building on a larger idea, entrepreneurs receive the opportunity to strengthen, build and execute their ideas.
Do you have a go-to order at Community Grounds, the coffee shop run by FCS?
"But my favorite order is their Hot Chocolate on a cold afternoon."
My most consistent order is English Breakfast Tea which I drink every morning. But my favorite order is their Hot Chocolate on a cold afternoon. Community Grounds has great coffee for sure, but it is also a great place for us non-coffee drinkers!
