What the business does

Afghan cuisine featuring fresh ingredients and Afghan spices

We love your food! What makes Afghani food special and how do you hope to convey that to your customers?

"As part of our afghani culture we love to feed our guests our best recipes so along with a good taste their will be a warm environment too."

Afghan cuisine is quite unique. Unlike food from its neighbors to the east, the spices used in our dishes are not too hot, and yet very flavorful at the same time. Travelers from the other countries find Afghan cuisine very tasty and healthy, so I believe its unlike other fast food available in the Atlanta area. Everything is made of the finestingredients. We dont use any processed or artificial flavours in our food, so there are a lot of health benefits too. As part of our afghani culture we love to feed our guests our best recipes so along with a good taste their will be a warm environment too.

Your food is all about the spices. What is one spice people probably don't have in their cabinet but should?

"The most popular two ingredients I would say are Cardamom and dried mint."

There are specific spices for every Afghani food and the most popular two ingredients I would say are Cardamom and dried mint. They both have various health benefits too. Cardamom is consumed for many diseases and has many health benefits for the body; the seeds are used to treat gum infections, to prevent and treat throat problems, congestion and pulmonary tuberculosis, inflammation of the eyelids, and also to treat stomach pain, dysentery, constipation and other digestive problems. The amazing health benefits of mint include improved digestion, weight loss, relief from nausea, depression, fatigue, and headache. It is also used in the treatment of asthma, memory loss, and skin care problems.

How did your partnership come about?

"Barbara's neighbor is the pastor of a church that was helping me and my family get settled here when Shaista arrived from Afghanistan."

We met because Barbara's neighbor is the pastor of a church that was helping me and my family get settled here when we arrived from Afghanistan. The pastor posted on Facebook that we would be coming soon and they were looking for people to get our apartment set up. Barbara offered to help, and we soon connected with each other on Facebook. It didn't take long at all for us to start getting to know each other over the Afghani food that I cooked for her and her wife. We made an immediate connection (mostly over food!) and now, two years later, we are not only business partners, but the dearest of friends.
